7 years ago my life was turned upside down as I fought for my life after a catastrophic airplane crash. Though it is an event I would never have chosen it also gave me a rebirth of sorts. Adversity and tragedy does not have to be the end, it can also be a new beginning; learning, growing and accepting the fate that was handed to you and finding a new way to thrive. I consider myself a very private person so sharing part of my journey has also been a struggle but I am forever grateful for being pushed to do so. If this film can help just one person navigate their way through tragedy then it is a success.

This past Sunday we lost Brad Dean.  Brad was a friend, son, brother, grandson and most of all husband.  Brad left this earth doing what he loved but in a way all of us have a near impossible time understanding. 

Tragedy lurks around every corner in life.  Each day we awake and leave out the front door of our homes, our nests of comfort and safety hoping each day to return back by nightfall.  Some days the billions of what seem to be minut decisions we make through our lives lead us to that moment, a moment that nobody excepts.  Its a moment that regardless of anything can never be taken back, can never be altered.  These moments impact so many lives and can be cruel beyond belief. 

Each day when we leave our front door we still have to be willing to live.  Tragic accidents like this are truly that, tragic and if only for a moment remind us all of fragility of life and the importance of living each day with purpose.  Brad did that every day of his life and all of us who spent a minute, a day, a year or a lifetime with are better for having shared that time with Brad.

Congratulations to Glotman Simpson Cypress Challenge for surpassing the $2,000,000 raised to date.  An amazing day for the the event and all the Just Giver members and friends!  Many personal best times and a day of sun........ perfect!

The third annual Just Giver 4PD Hougen Park TT is in the books.  Another fun day of fast racing and lots of personal best times in all age categories.  Thanks to all who came out to support the race and a big thanks to the Volunteers and Stuart Lynne / Escape Velocity for providing the road signage!  For that Stuart got to race and win the overall Masters Age Cat Standards.

Big congratulations to Matt Fieldwalker, Jocelynn Rooke and Matt Richardson for their outstanding performances at last weekends Self Transcendence Triathlon.  Matt Fieldwalker raced in the Sprint distance which was also the BC Provincial Champion race.  Matt F won the age category Provincial title and placed second overall.  Jocelynn hit her first podium of the year in 3rd place age category in the Olympic distance.  Matt Richardson finished just off the podium in 4th place age cat also in the Sprint distance.

Once every few years something like this happens.  When a group of 11 riders set out from Sumas to Mount Baker return (150km) you always expect a few hiccups.  Flat tires, Cramps....the list is long.  But once in a while you have what pretty much turns out to be the perfect group ride.  Not a single incident not even a flat tire.  One of the finest if not best Mount Baker Group rides ever including the epic not too hot weather and pizza at the park to end the day!

Another great year in Penticton with those that attended the 6th annual Axel Merckx Gran Fondo.  For many this is the highlight of the season riding in the Okanagan, enjoying some wine and relaxing with friends!  This year we had 4 members of the JG Team finish in the top 50!  Already excited about next year!

Congratulations to Joerg and Travis who for the second year in a row headed to Europe to race the annual Tour Trans Alp.  TTA is a 7 day stage race based in Austria, Switzerland and Italy!  Joerg and Travis represented both Canada and Just Giver 4PD finishing an amazing 122nd out of over 400 teams.

What an amazing day. Suffering and smiles in bunches in extremely tough riding conditions.  1 Peak, 2 peaks, 3 peaks or 4....everybody who participated is a champion.
